Privacy policy
Last updated 25 October 2026
Our apps keep what you write and record on your phone. We don't have accounts, we don't show ads, and we never sell your information.
This policy covers lomlsquared.com and our apps, including Dawn. It explains what information is used, where it goes, and the choices you have. If you have a question, email support@lomlsquared.com.
What stays on your phone
Everything you put into Dawn is stored only on your device. We can't see it and it isn't sent to us. That includes:
- Your journal reflections and written du'as
- Voice du'as you record with the microphone
- Your reading progress, streaks, memorisation and settings
- Your city or location, used to work out prayer times and the qibla direction
If you delete the app, this information is deleted with it. If you make a backup, Dawn creates a file and you choose where to save it, such as Files or iCloud Drive. We never receive a copy.
Permissions
Location
Dawn asks for your location only to calculate prayer times and point towards the qibla. The calculation happens on your phone. To show the name of your city, your phone's built-in service from Apple or Google turns your position into a place name. You can choose a city by hand instead.
Microphone
Used only when you record a voice du'a. Recordings are saved on your phone and are never uploaded.
Notifications
Reminders for your daily verse, prayers and adhkar are scheduled on your phone. We don't send them from a server.
Services we connect to
Quran text and recitation
Word-by-word meanings, translations and recitation audio are downloaded from Quran.com. Like any website, their servers receive your IP address when your phone makes a request. We don't send them anything about you, and downloaded content is cleared from your phone after a week.
Support payments
Dawn is free. If you choose to support it, Apple or Google handles the payment, and we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to check which support you have, so supporter extras unlock and can be restored. RevenueCat receives a random identifier and your purchase history for Dawn, but not your name or email.
Anonymous usage, only if you turn it on
"Share anonymous usage" in Settings is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, Dawn sends PostHog which screens are opened, basic events, and error details when something goes wrong, along with the app version and whether you use iPhone or Android. These are linked to a random ID created on your phone, not to you. They never include your journal, du'as, recordings or location. Turning the setting off stops sharing and deletes the random ID.
Young readers
Dawn has a young reader mode for children, protected by a grown-up's PIN. In that mode, usage sharing and support payments are switched off entirely. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
This website
lomlsquared.com has no cookies, analytics or tracking. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
Your choices
- Turn anonymous usage sharing on or off at any time in Dawn's Settings.
- Turn off location, microphone or notification access in your phone's Settings.
- Export your journal and du'as, or delete everything by deleting the app.
- Email us to ask about any information related to you. Because we don't have accounts, we usually hold nothing that identifies you.
Changes
If we change how our apps handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
